On World No-Tobacco Day, these non-smokers give techniques to manage tension especially for the smokers

Every year on May 31, the World No Tobacco Day is commemorated. It is commemorated to raise awareness about the harmful consequences of tobacco use. The first word that comes out of a smoker’s mouth when asked why they smoke is “stress.” So, in an effort to assist them, we chatted with a few nonsmokers about how they cope with stress, and here’s what they had to say:

Somy Ali: First and foremost, I find it incomprehensible that anyone would consider smoking a cigarette in 2021. In terms of stress relievers, I make it a point to exercise at least 4-5 days each week, which has been proven to lessen anxiety and tension. Furthermore, the best method for me to relieve stress is to ensure that those around me are not stressed about fundamental needs. As a result, my daily work with No More Tear (NMT) is perhaps the most effective stress reliever for me. When you witness people fighting for items we take for granted, such as toothpaste, food, or infant formula, it affects your perspective on stress in general. For me, meeting these basic requirements is the most effective stress reliever.

Mrunal Jain: To begin with, I believe that smoking is not the best way to relieve stress. Working out, on the other hand, has always helped me relieve tension. Going on long trips with my family also assists me in clearing my mind and releasing undesirable stress.

Meera Deosthale: I paint, dance, and cook to reduce stress. I’m not a smoker. Because smoking is so addictive, I believe it should be prohibited. I’ve seen people smoking, and I’ve seen individuals standing around them who are indirectly impacted by passive smoking. We all need to recognise that health is riches.

Saahil Uppal: To relieve stress, I workout and spend time with my friends and family. These activities are absolutely beneficial to my health and enable me to improve, connect with my loved ones, and stay stress-free. Cigarettes will not make you feel less stressed. It will be detrimental to your health. There are better ways to relieve stress; please use them.

Nivedita Basu: On a serious note, I’ve seen people smoking and drinking to unwind in the media, but fortunately, I don’t smoke, drink, or do any hookah, not even tea or coffee, so the best way for me to unwind is probably to do some Mandala painting or stare at my fishes or watch some content, and sometimes when my eyes hurt, I just close my eyes.

Delnaaz Irani: I believe that smoking cigarettes is extremely harmful. People who smoke must be feeling better, but smoking is plainly harmful to one’s health, as we all know, and I’m sure there are other stress relievers. For me, it’s food, which is also awful, but when I’m stressed, I tend to eat a lot more than usual; I eat a lot usually, but when I’m stressed, I eat even more, so that’s my stress reliever. When I’m stressed, another thing I do is listen to some soft music. I just lay down for a while with some nice, peaceful music playing in the background, which is another stress reliever for me.

Rahul Bhatia: Stress is a common part of people’s lives today because of their lifestyles, their sleeping patterns, their eating patterns, and the pressures they face at work. Stress isn’t something that happens to one individual in particular; in today’s world, almost everyone is stressed, but that doesn’t guarantee you’ll get sicker as a result of it. We all know that tobacco is harmful to our health; it’s even stated on the package to warn people away from it, but most people ignore it. You can relieve stress by engaging in thoughtful activities, exercising, meditation, yoga, stretching, or engaging in other things that make you joyful. Stress is bad for your body and mind, and getting rid of it is difficult.

Rushad Rana: I’m Rushad Rana, and I’m Cigarette smoking is, indeed, harmful to one’s health. And to relieve tension, I practise meditation and sing my prayers; this is what keeps me sane. Aside from that, I’ve seen a shift in my mentality, which has helped me stay positive. The change in attitude is that before, I was a person who attempted to control everything in my life, even the consequences, but then I realised that not everything is in your control; there are many external forces that shape your life, profession, destiny, and everything else, so I made peace with that. Another major stress reliever for me is the type of movies I watch, the stuff I consume, all of the OTT content, viewing movies and shows on demand.

Hasan Zaidi: Both physical and mental health are crucial. Many people are unaware that their mental health is the source of many of their physical difficulties; this was a slightly later realisation in my life as well, but it had been for a while. Many external influences are constantly present, but when we pay attention to them, we give them the potential to produce stress. In terms of starss bursting, smoking can lead to lung cancer or a reduction in stamina in the worst-case situation, but one must remember that anything that stresses you out must be controlled in the same manner. You must be aware of the advantages and disadvantages.
