Miloni Kapadia, who plays Gunjan in Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha, speaks about her role: I don’t identify with her selfish and greedy personality, which may explain why I’m enjoying playing this role.
Miloni Kapadia has chosen one significant character after another, from Shanaya in Main Maayke Chali Jaaungi to Gunjan Rawal in Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha. The actor, who is new to the industry, wants to take things one step at a time in order to develop a solid career path.
“It doesn’t matter to me whether my character is the lead or a supporting character; the role must be substantial for me. I understand that since I am new to the industry, my choices are small, so I want to choose characters and be a part of shows that will allow me to learn while still giving me the opportunity to perform. The best part about this business is that everybody can be themselves, and there are no restrictions on innovation or opportunities. The more you explore, the more you grow,” says Kapadia, a National Gold Medalist in Figure Skating.
Kapadia describes Gunjan as a brazen, outgoing, and spoiled brat in her description of her character. “Whatever she wants, she’ll get it no matter what it takes. She is a self-centered, greedy, and self-obsessed attention seeker. I don’t have a lot of sympathy for her character. I’m nothing like her, which is probably why I’m enjoying this role so much. The onscreen character provides the storey with much-needed spice. And it makes me proud that so many people despise her. I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback on my success, but a lot of people don’t like Gunjan. I take both of these as compliments,” says the star, who believes the show’s title is appropriate and accurately conveys the message that “baat nazar ki nahi nazariye ki hai” (it all depends on how you see the world).
“I met Sonali ma’am and Amir sir at the premiere party,” the actor says of collaborating with the show’s producers Sonali Jaffar and Amir Jaffar. They’ve been really friendly and welcoming. Our whole team feels like one big happy family, with everyone radiating positive energy. Every time they’ve come on set, they’ve been so sweet and considerate.”
Are you worried about shooting now that COVID cases are on the rise again? “Looking at the everyday numbers, it’s undeniably frightening. However, everyone on set has adhered to the safety precautions, with everything being sanitised and everyone wearing their mask. She concludes, “That gives me a lot of confidence.”
