World Environment Day: Actors from Rajan Shahi’s successful programmes say we shouldn’t treat Mother Nature like a “once upon a time” phenomenon!

Every year on June 5th, World Environment Day is commemorated to raise awareness about the need of maintaining a clean and green environment. We asked a few DKP (Directors Kut Productions) actors about the modest things they do on a personal basis to make the world a better place, and this is what they said:

Sudhanshu Pandey (Vanraj in Anupamaa):-
We need to start disciplining ourselves as a society. My family and I have begun to adopt certain habits in our daily lives, such as sorting dry and wet rubbish. In addition, I have instructed my children not to waste any water. So, whether we’re brushing our teeth or having a shower, we aim to use water only when it’s really necessary, rather than wasting it or leaving the faucets open. Also, we strive to avoid using plastic as much as possible since I don’t want to be part of the problem of plastic pollution in the environment. These are the three things that we do on a regular basis, and while they are minor, they can have a significant impact. And if we can accomplish it as a civilization, we will undoubtedly be able to change the course of our world.

Parvati Sehgal ( Komal in Mann ki Awaaz Pratigya 2) :-
Let us be the change we wish to see in the world. Plastic bags are not used by me. I use a stainless steel and copper bottle to store my drinking water. Domestic garbage is separated at our home on a regular basis. As a first green measure, we are producing tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables on our balcony.

Alpana Buch (Baa in Anupama ):-
I’d like to utilise a statement from Mahatma Gandhi: “Earth gives enough to meet every human need, but not every human greed.” So, friends, it’s past time for us to realise that the environment is not someone else’s property to damage, but ours to safeguard. I am proud of myself and everyone else who attempts to grow little house plants, even in a packed metropolis like Mumbai, as a modest contribution to our own environment. To the extent possible, I have avoided using plastic and other harmful materials. Believe me when I say that a tiny environmental friendly deed from everyone of us will undoubtedly result in a better world for future generations. Let’s get started. Let us begin to do everything we can to defend our environment, and let us all swear that we will not let our mother nature to become a ‘Once Upon a Time’.

Asmita Sharma ( Ammaji in Mann kii Awaj Pratigya):-
I agree that you will not be able to live a healthy life if you do not return to nature. All of the things that we used to do in the past, such as what our ancestors did, if we start doing them now, we would undoubtedly be able to change our lifestyle and therefore the environment. Small changes, such as eschewing plastic and aluminium utensils in favour of steel and iron, can make a tremendous difference. Another thing I do is conserve water. These are only a few of the few things we can do on an individual basis that can make a bigger difference than one might think.

Bhumika Gurung (seen as Meera in Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya 2):-
I wouldn’t claim I’ve done everything, but I do my part to help the environment in my own way, starting with simple things like conserving water, saving electricity, using less plastic, and recycling food waste as a soil substitute. These are the things that anyone can do to make a bigger difference.
