How was it to shoot Hai Tauba?
The shoot was amazing; we also had a lot of fun shooting. Everybody was new to each other but we all kept such a beautiful bond that everybody will get to see off-screen and on-screen. That was the best of it, though the heat was unbearable.
How were you approached for this role?
It was a pretty interesting story. I was in Mumbai, stuck in the lock-down. Then I decided to come down to Punjab where my hometown is. The day I landed in Punjab, that night I got a call from the director Kapil and he narrated the story and undoubtedly the story was nice, I loved it and I loved my character. The next thing I knew was that I would be traveling in the morning. The day I came from Mumbai to Punjab, next day I went from Punjab to Goa. So that was pretty hectic but fun.
Were you nervous to shoot bold scenes?
Not really, if you look at it, I think my scenes are shot well. I wasn’t nervous but I think the kissing scene if I talk about I think the credit goes to my co-actor Gaurav because he made me very comfortable and it totally depends on how you take the scene. Nobody was awkward or nervous and it was shot in the most aesthetic way. Everybody was superb. Even our director made us all comfortable.
What do you have an understanding from this series?
I think when you look at the story more closely you will understand that it conveys a beautiful message, It’s not about being single or being in love or whatsoever. It is all about you connecting to yourself and that is the gist of the story and I think it is beautifully portrayed.
How was your experience to shoot with a gang of hello jee?
It was fabulous, the fact was that fact we all share such a beautiful bond and we all are still together and are in touch with each other. It was like a dream team to be very honest. We are looking forward to part 2 starting soon. It was fabulous and Hello jee was one of its kind. We all had a great time shooting. It didn’t’ seem like we are on a shoot and we’re working, it was like a party to us.
What was your family’s reaction after watching all your web series?
Good one! My family is chilled out, and they know it’s my profession. They have always enjoyed my work and have always enjoyed the fact that they are getting to see me in different roles. They all have been enjoying the kind of craft I’ve been doing. They have always been encouraging and supportive.
Is Prachi relatable to you in real life or are you different?
Prachi is not like a person of mine, she was a very obsessive kind of a girlfriend. In her obsessive love, she ruined her relationship with her own. Prachi is extreme as a character and we are pretty different. I relate to Shreyas character that I’m doing in Haye Tauba, very similar to who I am. While doing the character I didn’t feel like a performance or camera is there.
When was your first encounter with the camera? Do you remember your first dialogue?
I very well remember my first encounter with the camera. I never planned to become an actress. I still remember my mom she went to meet her friend apparently who was a director and he was casting. He wanted a cute chubby girl and then, I was healthy. So he asked me to audition for that part and I didn’t want to act, as it was not that what I wanted to do. I was young at that time. He forced me and I did give my audition for that part and that was my first encounter where my journey began.
Do you remember your first dialogue?
I don’t remember but of course, I remember my first encounter. It happened years back, almost 8 years down the line.
Are you planning on doing more web series?
Absolutely! I think the web is the space that I’m enjoying and I need to do a different kind of work and characters. It is really fun as an actor where you want to perform different kinds of characters and you don’t want monotony in life as your craft. So I’m enjoying the space and looking forward to working in the web space now. But I’m open to everything and it’s not that I’ve been restricted to the web series, I’m open to content till the time I like something.
Do you plan on shooting for daily soap again after kahaan hum kahaan tum?
Kahaan hum kahaan tum was the fabulous time of my life again. We all were close to each other and I learned a lot from my first television show. I haven’t restricted myself to do TV but now I’m getting more web offers. So I’m going with the flow and not thinking much about what I want to do. Whenever I will get good content on TV when I’m offered one, of course, I shall do that.
Would you like to do any reality show like Big boss or any other?
Well, I was thinking about why this question has not come yet. Honestly, it’ll all depend on when I get the offer. Also, I’m the kind of person who doesn’t plan and likes to go with the flow. I will never plan things in the future. I just live in the present. If I get an offer for a reality show and if I’m interested then I will do it. I don’t mind any work. Suppose I get a Big Boss offer and if I’m interested in doing it so I might go inside and maybe one you will see me in the Big Boss house with a lot of masalas.
Who do you admire the most in this industry?
That’s an amazing question. I like watching good performances. I believe that a good performance or a good actor is much better than a good-looking person. So I am a person who believes in performance and art. So the one lady that I enjoy watching is Vidya Balan. I’ve enjoyed her work. Also, there are so many good actors, and naming one is difficult. I’ve enjoyed watching Irfan Khan Ji, he has been a great inspiration for everyone and I think everyone in India. When I’ve got to say a particular name in women, I would say Priyanka Chopra has always inspired me.
