A new trend has started to appear in the Indian Film Industry as a repercussion current theme in web series. Bollywood is pivoting towards rural India and picking up hit stories like from home. One such attempt is made by Balaji with their upcoming film – Jabariya Jodi. The movie is based on the infamous practice of groom kidnapping in Bihar.
The trailer that epically fails to hold your interest features Sidharth Malhotra as Bihari lad who is a contract kidnaper. The fact that Balaji took Sidharth who doesn’t even look close to a Bihari Laika makes us not just question what greenery was the casting director high while casting Sidharth but also the actors acting skills. After seeing Javed Jafferi trying to deliver a poorly written punch you are introduced to the character of the female protagonist played by Parineeti Chopra in a leather jacket over a embroider blouse and black jeans. And my God that greenery must have been good because even the styling team seem to be high on it. Her character which overly fashionable of the Bihari ecosystem made us assured that the film is indeed made by Balaji whose Bahus go to bed with thick makeup and heavy jewelry.
The trailer fantastically sheds light on poorly written dialogues, the script with that who forces events of the story and star cast that would be the last choice of Anurag Kashyap to even fill up the frame for a scene set in Bihar.
