Malaal Review: A Love Story That Will Put A Dent On Your Impression Of Aashiqui 2
3 min readAfter Yash Chopra, if there is someone who can craft surreal romance on the silver screen it’s Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ram-Lela, Bajirao Mastni, Padmavat all of them stand as a strong statement of Bhansali’s talent of crafting an engaging love story.
The movie is a love story of two individuals who are most unlikely to fall in love, a toprie guy – Shiva who is good for nothing and a cultured girl from a well of family whose dad’s bankruptcy has forced her into small kholi in a chawl. In the beginning, the director established a tension between Shiva and Astha what unfolds scene by scene is a riveting love story that at every turn is subject to conflicts that life has up its sleeve. Every frame of the film will keep you engage and immerse you into the character of two love birds.
Malaal is not your grand stereotypical Bollywood love story but a simple, surreal story that stays true to the world. By the end of the movie, you learn why the film is entitled Malaal and the reasons will leave you in tears.
The movie is a debut for the director Mangesh Hadawale, actor Meezan Jaaferi and Sharmin Sehgal. And without a doubt, all three of them had nailed it.
After Aashiqui 2 Malaal is a quality love story that has been crafted as dynamite packed with superior writing, awe-inspiring direction and acting that stays true to its character.
Despite the box office fate of the movie, the work of the Magesh, Meezan, and Sharmin will leave you speechless in tears and will stay with you for a larger part of the viewers’ life.
